Mobile Planetarium is an inflatable portable dome that can be viewed at your school. The show contains a trailer of the Full-Dome film and night sky demonstrations such as identifying constellations with figures, planets, planetary motion, direction finding, eclipses, moon phases, the direction of the sunrise and set, annual and daily motion of the sky.
This service is provided free of charge.
A 30 minute presentation can accommodate 40 students per session.
The maximum number of presentations is 10 per day.
Space requirement for the Mobile Planetarium:
Dust free and clean, indoor hall or classroom with 30 x 25 x 15 feet (length x width x height) dimensions.
Main electricity supply. (13 Ampere)

Should be able to provide necessary facilities for five Planetarium officers and provide enough security for the equipment they bring to your school.
Night Sky Observation Camps
Night sky observation camps can be conducted at your school.
The program contains,
Identification of constellations, planets, moon phases and finding the directions.
Observation of planets, moon and deep sky objects through telescopes.
Reading the star map & Star mapping.
Finding the horoscope sign according to your birth time.
Astronomy and Space Science lectures.
Astronomy and Space Science videos.
Building and launching water rockets.
Entertainment activities.
This service is provided free of charge.
Program duration: from 5 p.m. to the following day morning.
150 participants can join with this program.
Items a participant should bring
Copied handouts sent by Sri Lanka Planetarium.
A torch covered with a piece of red cellophane with fresh batteries.
Stationary (pencil, eraser, pair of scissors, bottle of glue, piece of string, drawing pins).
Four pieces of cardboard of A4 size.
Two empty PET “mega” bottles (1.5 or 2 litre) per 5 participants.
Two A4 size binding sheets per 5 participants.
Duct tape / Binding Tape.
One Tennis ball.
Facilities you should provide
A suitable ground where the sky can be observed without any obstacles. (such as trees, buildings and light).
Loudspeakers with an amplifier.
Three teacher-tables with chairs.
Two torches with fresh batteries.
Mains electricity supply to the ground where the program is conducted.

When phenomena such as eclipses, transits, and other Astronomy events occur, Sri Lanka Planetarium will organize special observation camps in which anyone can participate. The date, time, and venue of these camps will be notified in advance through media and the Planetarium website.
